This season at Caracara Ridge, something truly special took place — the first fruit trees were planted in our community orchard, and they were planted by a remarkable group of women. A group of widows came together to take part in this meaningful moment, each one planting a tree in honor of a loved one they have lost.

The day was filled with quiet strength, shared stories, and the grounding rhythm of digging into the earth. For these women, the act of planting wasn’t just about trees — it was about healing, remembrance, and new beginnings. As they pressed roots into the soil, they planted more than fruit trees; they planted legacy, hope, and a living tribute to those they carry in their hearts.

At Caracara Ridge, we often talk about regeneration — not only of the land, but of spirit, purpose, and connection. This beautiful gathering was a perfect expression of that vision. The orchard, once pastureland, is now home to citrus, papaya, carambola, mango, cacao, lychee, banana, and other nourishing trees that will grow and bear fruit for years to come. As the trees grow, so too will the strength and resilience of the women who planted them.

There were moments of quiet reflection, others of laughter, and many filled with a deep sense of peace. It was a reminder that healing can happen in nature’s embrace — with hands in the soil, surrounded by community, and in the shared act of giving life to something new.

We are honored that Caracara Ridge could be a place for this beautiful ceremony of remembrance and renewal. These trees will be a permanent part of our landscape, offering food and shade, and standing tall as symbols of love, courage, and life continuing.

To the women who planted the first trees in our orchard — thank you. You have given this land something sacred. May your trees thrive, and may your hearts find peace in every new leaf.
